| The purpose of The Facilitated Build© is to provide supervision and guidance for practitioners who want to install their own courses while ensuring the creation of a facility that will meet ACCT standards. The trend in Challenge Course program development continues to increase as ever growing numbers of schools, institutions, and corporations join the field. With the 1994 ratification of Challenge Course Installation Standards by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), the days of 'do it yourself' installations are numbered for good reason. These technical standards have been developed to protect both the participants and program facilitators from harm and to protect programs from financial loss associated with use of inferior materials and techniques. The sad point of this development is by building their own courses, practitioners learned valuable inspection and maintenance skills that serve to protect and prolong the facility. The Facilitated Build© puts the tools back into the hands of the practitioners. Concept: Leahy & Associates, Inc. works side by side with practitioners to develop and install a professional quality challenge course facility that includes portable, low, and high elements and meets ACCT Standards. Benefits: The Facilitated Build © often lowers installation costs, provides a quicker installation, allows more elements to be built for the same cost as contracted installation, and helps practitioners develop valuable skills. As a result of participation in The Facilitated Build ©, practitioners pay closer attention to the physical plant which reduces repair costs and increases participant safety. Options: The Facilitated Build © works effectively with most phases of challenge course installation. Some restrictions and limitations do exist and patience for the process is a primary requirement. The Portable Course A variety of low elements are available in a portable form including the Mohawk Walk, Wild Woosie, and Spider Web. Your own staff and students, under careful guidance and supervision, can build a portable course of about eight to twelve elements. Permanent Low Element Course Traditional low elements are perhaps the best activities to employ The Facilitated Build ©. Whether on poles or trees, low elements assemble relatively quickly and with a high degree of quality. High Element Course The facilitated installation of high elements requires some clear boundaries for the safety of helpers and also to guarantee the required quality of the installation. Some phases of the facilitated high element installation can be completed by helpers but the most technical phases restrict those who can help to persons with excellent climbing skills and previous experience with power tools, skilled persons who access the heights using, hydraulic platforms, aerial bucket trucks or the like. Boundaries: It must be noted that our primary commitments are to the safety of all concerned, the quality of the finished product, and to the skills developed by the helpers. We believe that with proper safety guidelines and good focus on the task at hand the project will move along at a good pace. However, our main focus will not be to see how many elements can be built in the shortest amount of time. Materials: Materials for The Facilitated Build © can be supplied by Leahy & Associates, Inc. in total, partly or totally sourced by the client. Only the proper parts and materials will be used in this process. The client agrees in advance to pay the charges associated with overnight express should the proper materials not be assembled as required in the case of client sourcing. Requirements:
